The Bloomington Drosophila Stock Center has identified l(3)CHc1 (FBal0195763) and l(3)CHc2 (FBal0195764) as alleles of the CG12290 gene.  l(3)CHc is group 5 in Jiang and Crews, 2006 (FBrf0193980, see also FBrf0199131).  Both l(3)CHc alleles are homozygous lethal and fail to complement Df(3R)Exel6204 (also shown by Jiang and Crews, 2006, FBrf0193980; RRID:BDSC_7683) and Mi{MIC}CG12290MI15247 (RRID:BDSC_61005).  Whole genome sequencing reveals the following mutation in the CG12290 gene in l(3)CHc2:
l(3)CHc2 = CG12290CHc2, deletion of CTGT at  3R:26232013..26232016  followed by GGC instead of TGG. The result is a frameshift following P436 with 7 aa (GALLRRI) of frameshifted protein translated before hitting a stop codon.
l(3)CHc1 = CG12290CHc1 based on genetic evidence; no mutations were found in CG12290 coding regions (non-coding regions were not analyzed).
