l(3)CHf1 (FBal0195776) and l(3)CHf2 (FBal0195777) are alleles identified in a screen for lethals over Df(3R)Espl3 and Df(3R)Exel6204 by Stephen Crews. l(3)CHf is group 8 in Jiang and Crews, 2006 (FBrf0193980, see also FBrf0199131). Further crosses by the Bloomington Drosophila Stock Center shows non-complementation of both l(3)CHf alleles with Df(3R)BSC751 (RRID:BDSC_26849), Df(3R)ED6232 (RRID:BDSC_8105) and TI{KozakGAL4}Vps2CR70750-KO-kG4 (RRID:BDSC_602303). Whole genome sequencing reveals the following candidate mutations in the Vps2 gene: l(3)CHf1 - Vps2CHf1, K7stop (AAG->TAG) l(3)CHf2 - Vps2CHf2, K89stop (AAA->TAA) We note that both l(3)CHf alleles complement the Vps2 FRT chromosome in this stock: RRID:BDSC_39630 w*; Vps2PP6 P{ry+t7.2=neoFRT}82B/TM6B, Tb1 Subsequent crosses showed that the Vps2PP6 FRT chromosome is able to complement Df(3R)ED6232, Df(3R)BSC751 and Df(3R)BSC140 (RRID:BDSC_9500) so the lethal on the Vps2 FRT chromosome does not map to Vps2 and both l(3)CHf alleles would therefore be expected to complement it.
