Comments

Present on the neo-Y chromosome of D.miranda.

The male genome carries twice as many Dmir\TRIM elements as the female genome. Dmir\TRIM elements are present at about 25 euchromatic sites and and the chromocentre. Three clusters of Dmir\TRIM inserts indicate non-random distribution or hotspots for Dmir\TRIM integration. The structure of the element resemble the organisation of retroviruses but shows similar features to the I-element.
