EcollexAL5275 is specifically expressed in the pioneer alpha/beta neurons of the mushroom body. Using GFP reconstitution across synaptic partners (GRASP) reveals that these neurons establish connections in the mushroom body calyx with the dorsal anterior lateral (DAL) neurons of the protocerebrum, labeled by ScerGAL4G0431.
