Description

Transgenic construct in which y and w are used as reporters in an enhancer blocking assay; construct used to study interactions between combinations of insulators. Contains the y gene including the wing and body enhancers. An FRT cassette containing an eye enhancer from the w gene is inserted in between the wing enhancer and the body enhancer. A 600bp Fab-8 insulator is inserted between the body enhancer and the y promoter. A mini-w gene is present downstream of the y coding sequence. A gypsy\su(Hw)BR insulator is present between the y and w coding sequences.
