Description

Transgenic construct used to study the role of ovo proteins during the process of site-specific integration by gypsy elements. Contains a genomic copy of y (containing all the coding and regulatory regions) with a 508bp fragment from the 5' region of ovo (nucleotides 502-1298) inserted at nucleotide 1980, between the wing blade and body enhancers and the promoter. The inserted fragment lacks the promoter region of the ovo-A isoform but still contains the promoter region of the ovo-B isoform. The five ovo binding sites are present but contain specific point mutations.
