Description

Transgenic construct used to study the mechanisms by which chromosomal position effects can effect expression of a w minigene. An FRT cassette containing a w eye enhancer fragment (-1465 to -1084 relative to the transcription star site) has been inserted upstream of the w+mC minigene, which carries an intact Wari insulator downstream of the w transcription unit. A loxP cassette containing a SV40 transcriptional terminator has been inserted between the enhancer and the w+mC coding sequence.
