The osk coding region present in oskUASp.Δi.2.3 has been replaced with a Ecol\lacZ coding sequence of identical length, resulting in a construct consisting of UASp regulatory sequences driving expression of osk 5'UTR sequence, Ecol\lacZ coding sequence interrupted by osk intron 1, and finally osk 3'UTR sequence, with the position of the intron 1 sequence relative to the 5' UTR and 3' UTR sequences maintained as in oskUASp.Δi.2.3.
