Rbp4 tagged at the C-terminal end with EYFP is expressed under the control of its own promoter (716bp of sequence from immediately 5' of the annotated transcription start site). Rbp4 5' UTR and 3'UTR sequences are also present, plus 148bp of 3' genomic sequence.

Rbp4 protein is expressed starting in early spermatocytes and continuing into later stages of germ cell differentiation. Reporter protein is detectable in mature spermatocytes and later stages. The expression pattern is similar to that of fest.
