A minimal Hsp70 promoter is fused upstream of the GAL80 coding region followed by the CecA1 3'UTR (an adenine-uridine rich element (ARE) containing sequence). This transgene acts as a reporter for Tis11 activity: the presence of the ARE means that the mRNA is degraded when Tis11 is active, inhibiting expression of GAL80 protein and allowing expression of a UAS-driven reporter in the presence of a transgene containing a GAL4 driver.
