The fiz enhancer region from a wild-type sub-Saharan African strain, spanning coordinates 14,909,008-14,910,193 of the X chromosome (release 6), with C-to-G, G-to-T and C-to-A mutations introduced 67, 1063 and 1174 nucleotides, respectively, before the start codon regulates expression of lacZ.
