A 765bp neutral sequence spacer separates the eve stripe 2 minimal enhancer ('eve2') from the eve core promoter followed by a transcription unit comprised of 24 tandem copies of the Tag:MS2 stem loop, 3kb of lacZ sequence and an αTubulin 3'UTR. Two mutations, designed to add two binding motifs for bcd, have been introduced into the eve2 enhancer sequence.
