General Information
Term enzymatic footprinting ID (Ontology) MI:0605 (Molecular Interactions)
Definition Binding sites are identified by altered reactivity of a complex to an enzymatic probe compared to the unbound molecules. Residues in close contact with the binding partner are protected from cleavage by the enzyme. When these enzymes are administrated to intact cells, the pattern of protection from the probes identifies the location of DNA-protein or protein-protein interactions in vivo.[ PubMed:8238889 ]
Also Known As "enzymatic footprint"
