General Information
Term MI:2169 ID (Ontology) MI:2169 (Molecular Interactions)
Definition Techniques based upon the measurement of the emission of one or more photons in a bioluminescent reaction. Such reactions are typically catalyzed by two groups of enzymes: photoproteins and luciferases. Photoproteins emit light in proportion to the concentration of the protein itself, while in a luciferin-luciferase reaction, photon emission is directly proportional to the amount of luciferin.[ PubMed:24166364 ]
