Construct: Coding region for CrebB-17A is corrected to wild type sequence by replacement of first 139bp of the mutated CrebB-17A cassette in CrebB-17Amut.Scer\UAS with wild type sequences from the CrebB-17A isoform b. Expression is governed by Scer\UAS regulatory sequences.

Overexpression of CrebB-17A[cor.Scer\UAS] driven by Scer\GAL4[elav.PLu] causes a mild, but significant, increase in synaptic bouton numbers at larval neuromuscular junctions.
Heat shock induced expression of CrebB-17Acor.Scer\UAS causes a slow lethality. Four days after 30 min heat shock at 37oC over 50% of the flies were dead, with lethality reaching 99% by day 7. Without heat shock, though in combination Scer\GAL4hs.PB with which nevertheless increases expression of CrebB-17Acor.Scer\UAS, the positive effect of 5x spaced training in the olfactory classical conditioning LTM assay (tested at 4 days) is abolished. Thus expression depresses learning in this assay.
