Expression of sda^GD11680 under the control of Scer\GAL4^upd1.PU, either throughout development or specifically in adults using a temperature shift assay, results in decreased numbers of hub cells, cyst stem cells, and germline stem cells in the testicular niche.

Expression of sda^GD11680 under the control of Scer\GAL4^C587 or Scer\GAL4^{nos.UTR.T:Hsim\VP16} does not result in significant changes in germline stem cell, cyst stem cell or hub cell numbers as compared to controls.

Adults expressing sda^GD11680 under the control of Scer\GAL4^elav.PLu (in the presence of Dcr-2^Scer\UAS.cDa to increase the efficiency of RNAi) do not show a significant defect in avoidance of noxious temperature (46[o]C) compared to control flies.
