Detailed Description

Scer\GAL4VGlut-OK371-mediated expression in motor neurons results in muscle 24 denervation in the vast majority of larvae.

Scer\GAL4ppk.PU-mediated expression in class IV multidendritic sensory neurons induces severe morphology defects, with reduction of dendritic coverage by around 40%.

Post-synaptic expression of ThorTA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4Mhc.PW leads to a decrease in the total number of type I boutons (both type Ib and type Is) on muscle 6/7 of A3. Presynaptic expression of ThorTA.Scer\UAS (under the control of Scer\GAL4elav-C155) has no effect.

Expression of ThorTA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4e22c does not affect cell death in the posterior compartment of the wing discs seen upon expression of hppyScer\UAS.cLa.

The reduction of neuromuscular junctions caused by post-synaptic expression of LrrkScer\UAS.cIa (under the control of Scer\GAL4Mhc.PW) is unaffected by the coexpression of ThorTA.Scer\UAS.

Coexpression of ThorTA.Scer\UAS in the post-synaptic compartment under the control of Scer\GAL4Mhc.PW is unable to rescue the neuromuscular junction phenotype caused by presynaptic LrrkScer\UAS.cIa expression (under the control of Scer\GAL4elav-C155.

The reduced climbing ability that is seen in 45 day old flies expressing LrrkI1915T.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4elav-C155 is partially rescued by co-expression of ThorTA.Scer\UAS.

Comments

The increased sensitivity of Thork13517 flies to paraquat and to hydrogen peroxide is rescued by expression of ThorTA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4da.G32 and in fact the rescued flies show increased resistance to paraquat and to hydrogen peroxide compared to controls.
