Expressing bnlHMS01046 under the control of Scer\GAL4Hml.Δ, Scer\GAL4lz-gal4 leads to wasp-infested larvae to develop fewer melanotic spots than controls. In the setting of Scer\GAL4Hml.Δ-driven expression, the larvae that can melanize wasp eggs display a reduction in melanotic mass size and a reduction in the number of Hml+ cells around the wasp eggs; unlike in controls, there are a few crystal cells around the wasp eggs. In the setting of Scer\GAL4Hml.Δ-driven expression there are also decreases in the numbers of total hemocytes, Hml+ plasmatocytes and lamellocytes after wasp-infestation, but not under control conditions.

Expressing bnlHMS01046 under the control of Scer\GAL4bnl.PU occasionally leads to stunted air sac primordium development, compared to controls.

Expressing bnlHMS01046 under the control of Scer\GAL4NP2211 leads to absence of, or stunted, air sac primordium in the wing disc.
