Flies expressing Gr28bScer\UAS.D under the control of Scer\GAL4Act5C.PU become incapacitated when placed at 37[o]C for three minutes, recovering when returned to 23[o]C.

Expression of Gr28bScer\UAS.D under the control of Scer\GAL4Gr5a.8.5 produces gustatory bristle receptor responses in response to warming. Warming to 32[o]C also produces a proboscis extension response.

Unlike in wild type, expression of Gr28bScer\UAS.D in motor neurons under the control of Scer\GAL4VGlut-OK371 induces warmth-responsive excitatory junction potentials at the neuromuscular junction. Motor neurons expressing Gr28bScer\UAS.D under the control of Scer\GAL4Mhc.PW exhibit warmth-responsive inward currents.
