Females expressing TorTRiP.cUa under the control of Scer\GAL4mat.αTub67C.T:Hsim\VP16 produce embryos that are smaller than wild-type and display a much decreased hatching rate, show DNA fragmentation and clumping following syncytial divisions, defective cellularization and increased cell death. Additionally, swaths of multivesicular compartments are present throughout the disorganized cytoplasm. These embryos also display abnormal yolk morphology (decondensation of the vitellogenin mass) during and post-cellularization (the yolk appears normal prior to cellularization, although some yolk platelets are mis-localized near nuclei).
Expression of TorTRiP.cUa under the combined control of Scer\GAL4nos.UTR.T:Hsim\VP16, Scer\GAL4nos.PG and Scer\GAL4otu.T:Hsim\VP16 prevents germaria formation in females, only terminal filaments remain.

mTorTRiP.cUa, Scer\GAL4VP16.mat.αTub67C is a suppressor | maternal effect | partially of majority die during embryonic stage | maternal effect phenotype of Atg1TRiP.cUa, Scer\GAL4VP16.mat.αTub67C
The low hatching rate of embryos from mothers expressing either TorTRiP.cUa or Atg1TRiP.cUa under the control of Scer\GAL4mat.αTub67C.T:Hsim\VP16 is nearly completely restored when the two transgenes are expressed simultaneously. No hatching rate defects are observed in embryos from Atg2HMS01198 expressing mothers and no rescue effect is observed when Atg2HMS01198 is co-expressed with TorTRiP.cUa.
