Comments on Cytology

Chromosome also carries P{bw+L}92C.

Translocation that places 2R heterochromatin ~55-70kb from the P{bw+L} transposon.

Limits of break 1 from polytene analysis (FBrf0086603) Limits of break 2 from polytene analysis (FBrf0099191)

Affected Genes Inferred by Location (0)
If no genes are listed here, it may be because the affected region is very large. The JBrowse insert above may show an error for the same reason, and other FlyBase tools such as CytoSearch may also fail for large regions. You can contact FlyBase for more help.
In these cases, there will be no "Export to Hitlist" button to the left.
    Phenotypic Data
    In combination with other aberrations
NOT in combination with other aberrations

Selected on basis of variegating position-effect on bw+t8.4 in P{bw+L}92C. Position-effect was confirmed by mobilization of P{bw+L}92C to new sites with concomitant restoration of uniform pigmentation. Trans-inactivation was observed: T(2;3)V21 trans-inactivated P{bw+L}92C but had no detectable effect on any other ectopic bw+t8.4 or bw+t30 copy. Recessive lethal or semilethal. A derivative, 'V21ext', has the P element deleted.

    Other Comments

Rearrangement can suppress the variegation phenotype of P{lacW}92E and P{bw+L}92C in the same lines.

Linkage analysis and mitotic chromosome preparations reveal this to be a translocation and not an inversion as previously thought.
