    Animals carrying P{snf+,dhd+} in a homozygous Df(1)JB254 background often remain in a larval state longer than wild-type siblings. Up to 50% of the mutant larvae form a puparium and the remainder die as larvae. The imaginal discs fail to proliferate in the mutant larvae, whereas the polyploid tissue appears normal.
