    Cells in the ventral domain (mitotic domain 10) are the first to enter mitosis in Df(3L)XG10 embryos. The order of the other mitotic domains is not altered. As a consequence of the early mitosis in mitotic domain 10, the mesodermal precursors remain on the surface and do not form a proper ventral furrow.
