Recombination between the two progenitor insertions has resulted in the deletion of the intervening sequence between them, producing a 49.7kb deletion that completely removes LpR1 and removes exons 1 to 8 of LpR2.

Homozygous viable. Homozygous females are completely sterile. Ovaries of homozygous females are severely reduced in size and contain abundant cellular debris. Condensation and fragmentation of the nurse cell nuclei is seen at stages 9-10. The few non-degenerating egg chambers that are seen have an extremely low lipid content.

Females containing homozygous germ-line clones are sterile, but lay abundant non-viable eggs. The egg chambers of these females have a low lipid content, and no signs of degeneration are seen at mid oogenesis. Follicle cells of the mutant ovaries have very few lipid droplets.

Homozygous larval wing discs have severely reduced levels of intracellular lipid droplets compared to wild-type controls.

The number and size of lipid droplets in the fat body of mutants is normal.
