Df(2L)M26 was generated as a terminal deletion of chromosome arm 2L. The telomere-associated sequence (TAS) repeats were deleted, but none of the unique sequence from the 2L tip was deleted. The terminally deleted chromosome gained a TART element serendipitously and the chromosome was then backcrossed to a Su(var)205 mutation to grow the telomeric retrotransposon (HTT) array.
