P-element-mediated male recombination on a chromosome carrying P{lacW}E(spl)mγ-HLHK33 has resulted in a deletion of approximately 6.2kb. The deletion starts inside the P{lacW} element (retaining the last 2361bp of the 5' end of the element) deleting all of the E(spl)mγ-HLH gene and most of the E(spl)mβ-HLH coding region (the coding region is terminated after the first 31 amino acid residues).
Mutant flies show a mild thickening in the posterior crossvein and at the tip of wing vein L5.
