Imprecise excision of the Mi{ET1} element in Mi{ET1}Ir52cMB04402 has resulted in a 2.464kb deletion that disrupts Ir52c and Ir52d.
Df(2R)Δcd/Df(2R)IR52a-d mutant males show a prolongation of the time taken to achieve successful copulation. They are slow to initiate their first unilateral wing extension to produce courtship songs, compared to control males. These phenotypes are fully restored by P{IR52rescueC}. The copulation delay is significantly rescued by P{IR52rescueC}, the courtship defects are not significantly rescued. Df(2R)Δcd/Df(2R)IR52a-d males show normal consumption and preference for sucrose and no defects in locomotor function are seen.
