Detailed Description

The thick and thin filaments of the indirect flight muscles of homozygous animals have detached posterior ends before 78 hours after puparium formation (APF). After 78 hours APF, hypercontraction of the fibres is initiated from the posterior ends. At eclosion, the fibres show a partial hypercontraction phenotype (one end is detached), and in flies more than 2 days after eclosion, the fibres are hypercontracted.
