Comments

Discovered during the characterization and localization of loci within the 95E--96F region.

Adult flies heterozygous for aor1 (In(3R)Ubx7L) and a deficiency for 96A show two separable phenotypes: a recessive loss of function phenotype causing reduction or disappearance of the first abdominal segment and a dominant enhancement of the Ubx transformation of haltere into wing. This dominant effect results from the interaction of lesions in Ubx with the haplo-insufficiency of the region 96A. The addition of an extra dose of the region 96A can partially suppress the Ubx phenotype. The recessive phenotype is independent of mutations at Ubx.
