apID/ap+ flies produce a strap wing phenotype at 17oC, at higher temperatures the wing becomes progressively more reduced. The temperature sensitive period ranges from early third to mid-third larval instar. Duplications of the notum are often seen accompanied by loss of wing tissue, the duplications resemble notum duplications produced by wg mutations.
