      Imaginal discs remain as vesicles.

      Lethal period in prepupae after formation of gas bubble. Puparium is weakly pigmented. Dying prepupae accumulate black pigment.

      br8 heterozygotes with 'rbp' alleles (except brrbp-1) are lethal with few adult escapers. Heterozygotes with Df(1)br25 have reduced viability and br wings.
