      Heterozygotes have a mild rough eye phenotype.

      Rough eye phenotype due to occasional fusion of ommatidial lenses, pigment cells separating individual ommatidia are missing and irregularities in bristle spacing. Eye phenotype can be partially suppressed by bul1 or bulbp.
