Females heterozygous for dl25 and a deficiency for dl produce 100% strongly dorsalised embryos. Females heterozygous for dl25 and dl+ produce 100% weakly dorsalised embryos. Females heterozygous for dl25 and dl+ but carrying an additional copy of dl+ carried in P{dlhs.P} produce 100% weakly dorsalised embryos of which 98% hatch.
Embryos derived from heterozygous females have a range of phenotypes, from a disarranged head skeleton to a "tail-up" phenotype.
