Genotypes reared at 25oC died at 35oC. Flies reared at 29oC showed less significant differences in survival between genotypes than flies reared at 20oC and 25oC. Protein content, triglyceride content and ADH enzyme activity decreased significantly at 35oC, no correlation was observed between survival and these traits.
Egg to adult developmental time of Gpdh genotypes depends on the Adh genotype and temperature. Homoygotes have the fastest developmental time with all Adh genotypes, GpdhA/GpdhB heterozygotes an intermediate rate between the homozygotes. Adult weight of Gpdh genotypes interacts with temperature but not with Adh genotype. The Gpdh heterozygote has a significantly higher triglyceride content than the homozygotes which have a similar lower content, the values varied slightly in different Adh genotypes and temperatures. The differences in GPDH activity for all the Gpdh genotypes was small at all temperatures and Adh genotypes.

The carboxy-terminal end of the GpdhA larval and adult isozymes is different; the adult isozyme contains an extra 3 carboxy-terminal amino acids (Gln-Asn-Leu) compared to the larval isozyme.
Homodimeric Gpdh enzyme encoded by GpdhA has been purified and characterised.
The influence of starvation on GpdhA enzyme activity has been studied in D.melanogaster larvae and adults.
The influence of ethanol on GpdhA enzyme activity has been studied in D.melanogaster larvae.
