      Homozygous l(1)EN81 germline has abnormal egg chambers.

      (Perrimon et al., 1984)

      Homozygotes die during the second to third larval instar stages. The fat bodies, Malpighian tubules and salivary glands are reduced. Rare survivors have a soft exoskeleton. The concentration of free Gln is higher than normal and the concentration of free Tyr is lower than normal in lethal-bearing immature stages.
