Heterozygous larvae are more sensitive to UV irradiation than wild-type controls. When irradiated at 136J/m2, no heterozygous larvae develop to adults, whereas 30% of controls survive. Heterozygotes that do survive UV irradiation show severe cuticular damage, even in the presence of low UV irradiation doses.
