The mutation may be caused by an insertion, as the lethality can be reverted by Delta2-3 mediated excision.

Separable from: P{lacW}CG7427s1754.
The lethality of the "l(3)s1754" chromosome (represented by l(3)s1754s1754) is separable from the P{lacW}CG7427s1754 insertion in the CG7427 gene: the lethality of the chromosome is complemented by a deficiency (Df(3L)XG9) which uncovers the CG7427 gene. In addition, the lethality of the chromosome can be reverted to viability by Delta2-3 mediated excision, suggesting that the lethal allele (l(3)s1754s1754) is potentially also associated with an insertion and thus that there may be two insertions on the third chromosome in this line.
