Detailed Description
Statement
Reference

Homozygous males have rudimentary testes, in which the growth of the anterior region is greatly reduced, although the formation of the basal region and their attachment to the duct system appears normal. These testes are filled with young primary spermatocytes and acellular material. A few spermatid bundles are seen.

Additional Comments
Genetic Interactions
Statement
Reference

Males homozygous for both ms(3)HO5A1 and su(msm1)1 have spiral shaped testes, but these testes are considerably shorter and thinner than those of normal males. Elongated spermatid bundles are seen in these testes. This suppression is incomplete, as 8% of su(msm1)1 ms(3)HO5A1 double homozygous males have rudimentary testes. 7% of su(msm1)1 ms(3)HO5A1 double homozygous males are fertile, suggesting either that the ms(3)HO5A1 allele is leaky, or partial dominance of su(msm1)1 over its wild-type allele.
