Homozygous eye discs are defective in ionising-radiation induced G2 arrest.

Homozygous eye discs show defects in hydroxyurea-induced G2 arrest.

X-ray irradiation of wild-type third-instar wing imaginal discs induces cell cycle arrest within 1 hour. In contrast, X-ray irradiation of mus101D1 mutant larvae fails to induce cell cycle arrest.

mus101D1 mutants have a similar frequency of single-strand annealing repair (SSA) compared to controls in a P{wIw.FRT} hemizygous assay to study DNA double-stranded break repair when assayed at 32oC or 38oC.

Mutants are sensitive to MMS.

Excision repair capacity is normal and post-replication repair capacity is partly deficient.

mus101ts1/mus101D2 females are hypersensitive to killing by MMS and have reduced fertility. Homozygous females have reduced fertility. Chromosome condensation is abnormal in hemizygous third instar larval ganglia.

Homozygotes and hemizygotes do not show an increased frequency of spontaneous chromosome aberrations in neuroblast metaphases compared to wild-type larvae.

Homozygotes have normal excision repair capabilities, but postreplication repair is reduced compared to wild-type. Homozygous cultured cells respond to UV irradiation with normal reductions in thymidine incorporation and with the synthesis of abnormally short nascent DNA.

mus101D1 has no detectable effect on the recovery of chromosomes undergoing P-element transposition.
