Homozygous ndl5 follicle cell clones are produced via Scer\GAL4e22c-mediated expression of FLP recombinase. In some egg chambers all follicle cells appear to be mutant, indcating that ndl5 mutants do not confer any defect in viability or growth.
Ventral follicle cells homozygous for the class I ndl5 allele do not perturb dorso-ventral patterning in the progeny embryos.
Class I allele. Affected embryos show early developmental arrest, failing to reach the cellular blastoderm stage. Eggs are very fragile, showing an "oozy eggshell" phenotype.
Embryos derived from homozygous females are dorsalised.
Double mutant combinations with eaD1 are strongly dorsalizing.
Class I allele.
