A receptor potential of 12.5 mV peak amplitude (40% of wild-type amplitude) and 6.5 mV steady-state amplitude can be elicited (measured by intracellular recording) in norpA29 mutants by a bright 10 second white stimulus.
The ERG is abnormal. Flies show cell degeneration in the lamina monopolar cell layer and the cortex of the optic lobe, although the retina appears normal.
intermediate ERG
In the norpA29 inaEN125 double mutant, intracellular recording of the receptor potential shows that a receptor potential of 11.5mV peak amplitude is generated in response to a bright 10 second white stimulus, but it rises to a peak within 0.1 seconds and rapidly and completely decays to baseline within 0.25 seconds.
No receptor potential (measured by intracellular recording) can be elicited in norpA29 inaExl18 double mutants.
