      Defective in drosopterin synthesis. 'Quench spot', a precursor of drosopterins that is formed from the sepiapterin synthase intermediate, is at low levels. The level can be increased by introduction of the suppressor mutant, su(s)2, drosopterin is restored to normal levels.
