Description

An Hsp70 promoter drives expression of a N minigene (contains genomic and cDNA sequence) that carries a deletion of the entire intracellular domain (the extracellular and transmembrane domains are present). The encoded protein acts as a dominant negative form of N.

Expression of NECN.hs using heat shock results in loss of microchaetae on a small region of the notum.

Heat shock causes a "dominant loss of function" type phenotype of aberrant wing vein pattern, wing nicking, severe rough eye with scarring and missing thoracic microchaetae.
