Detailed Description

Embryos expressing Scrhs.PZ develop supernumerary salivary glands in parasegments PS0 and PS1.

Heat shock induces the production of ectopic salivary glands. Frequently the cells fuse with the normal salivary glands. Expression in the Antp P1 domain leads to ectopic salivary gland formation only when tsh is missing.

In combination with Scrhs.PG, tshhs.PdZ causes more extreme prothoracic transformations in procephalon and maxillary segment than tshhs.PdZ alone.

Heat shock causes failure of head involution, ectopic beards in T2 and T3 and thickening of T2 and T3 denticle bands. Ectopic salivary gland is induced. Adult head shows thickened aristae and reduction of eye size.

tsh expression is unchanged in heat shocked embryos in comparison to wild type.
