      Homozygotes exhibit hypertrophy of the ectoderm during stage 12, maybe due to an additional mutation on the chromosome. Heterozygotes develop to pharate adults that exhibit an 'unkempt' phenotype; small rough eyes, held out wings and crossed scutellar bristles.
