The dik protein truncates at amino acid 256.
Ada32, Df(3L)iro-2 has scutellum | heat sensitive phenotype, suppressible by araUAS.cGa/Scer\GAL4salm-AC216
Ada32, Df(3L)iro-2 has scutellum | heat sensitive phenotype
Ada32, Df(3L)iro-DFM1 has scutellum | heat sensitive phenotype
Ada32, Df(3L)iro-DFM3 has scutellum | heat sensitive phenotype
80% of dik2 Df(3L)iro-2 double heterozygotes (dik2/+; Df(3L)iro-2/+ for females and dik2; Df(3L)iro-2/dik+tE4RX for males) display a phenotype that is characteristic of loss of the Iroquoi gene complex (IRO-C), which in around half of mutants appears as loss of the scutellum and several bristles from the remaining scutum in the thorax. The penetrance and expressivity of this phenotype are temperature sensitive, appearing stronger at 27[o]C than at 17[o]C. A similar phenotype is seen in flies heterozygous for dik2 and either Df(3L)iro-DFM1 or Df(3L)iro-DFM3.
Expression of araScer\UAS.cGa under the control of Scer\GAL4salm-AC216 completely suppresses the IRO-C phenotypes seen in dik2/+; Df(3L)iro-2/+ mutant flies.
