An Hsp70 promoter is fused to w genomic DNA including the w coding region at a position 10bp upstream from the start of transcription.

Construct: Deletion of w upstream sequences and a few nucleotides of untranslated leader sequence, the terminator sequence is deleted.

      At a low temperature transformant flies have strongly pigmented eyes. Pigmentation is intensified at high temperature.
