The proximal end of Df(2L)Prl shows a complex rearrangement at the nub transcription unit. DNA has been deleted both upstream and downstream of the nub transcription unit, and the remaining portion is inverted with respect to the wild type transcription unit. The protein coding region of the entire β form of the transcript is still present but both of the identified first exons and presumably the transcription start sites have been deleted. In addition, a roo element in inserted into the 3' untranslated region of the transcript.
Deletion of the first exon of nub.
Loss of structures from the wing hinge and reduction of the wing blade.
