Construct: Deletion of nucleotides 3722 to 5533 leaving the amino terminus, the pleckstrin homology domain and the catalytic domain expressed from a heat inducible heat shock promoter and governed by a sev enhancer.

      When introduced into a sev6/Y;SosJC2/+ background, 40% ommatidia have R7 cells as opposed to 17% for sev6/Y;SosJC2/+ with no transgene. Promotes the development of R7 cells in sev6 flies but not sev14 flies.
