head & cuticle
All larval imaginal discs are present and their size and shape appear normal. The most prominent hdc defect involves head development and can result in the complete deletion of the head capsule or duplication of head cuticle or antenna. Pupae that survive to pharate adults exhibit massive defects in internal head structures, including the CNS, muscular and tracheal tissues. Wings, halteres, legs and epidermis are also affected.
